Vicki at Hollyhocks had the wonderful idea to have a get-together for local bloggers. Five women were able to come to the tea party on Saturday morning. The place where we met (again, thanks to Vicki) was the White Linen Tea Shop. The other folks who joined us were the sweet and kind Barbara of Oodles and Oodles who drove quite a ways as did Sondra who posts at Aged Essence and Nicky who can be found at Connect the Dots. Over the course of three and a half hours (!) we were able to get to know each other. Vicky gave us a progress report on her beautiful twins. Readers of her blog have been following along through the big announcement, the l-o-n-g mandated bedrest and the culminating miracle of the babies' birth. Barbara told us about the highs and lows of adding to her collections of vintage things, my favorite of which are blown glass Christmas ornaments. The seasonal vignettes she photographs for her blog are truly magazine worthy. Sondra and Nicky are an estate-sale-attending tag team. They described some of the strategies they employ to survive estate sales, which, believe it or not, can get pretty fractious. Both these young women are inspirational - they work hard at challenging professions and are creative and talented in their leisure time.
As I drove to the tea room I had a feeling not unlike going on a blind date. There is a certain stigma to have a face-to-face meeting with "someone you met on the internet". I hadn't thought about it until I saw the look on the faces of people when I told them of my Saturday plans. All's well that ends well. I was so glad to get to know these people and I hope we have another get-together soon. I was the recipient of some lovely party favors which I'll photograph and post tomorrow.
I'm a regular reader of Barbara's and did not realize you were one of the bloggers she met! (I admit I didn't click the links in your names in her post.) I have to go back to her blog now and check out the photos again. I think I've only met one blogger in person so far but in my pre-blogging days, I met people all the time, and even dated a few. It was always fun. I'm glad you had a good time.
