I think Paris gets along more on its reputation than actual fact. It was far from the best part of the trip. Our hotel was great - I took this picture from the entrance. Part of the problem was our tour guide seemed to be on autopilot and chatted more with the driver than with us.
The city itself is beautiful. The people we met were surly and unfriendly. I kind of figured out that if you are not willing to pay top euro for a dining experience you get, at best, a mediocre meal. And the less we say about service people, the better. It makes one's innards roil when the waiter's nails are packed with dirt.
The Eiffel tower experience is somewhat diminished by the dozens of aggressive Senegalese men who scream at you if you don't buy one of their made-in-China trinkets.
