I am really enjoying Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution on Friday nights. Working in schools, I am really ANGRY that my students are fed FUNNEL CAKES and STRAWBERRY FLAVORED MILK for breakfast and then the poor mites are expected to sit and participate in instruction. I implore you to watch the full length episodes on line. It is really eye-opening to see how hollow the arguments for the status quo sounds when administrators try to defend the CRAP they want to feed our kids.
In honor of Jamie, I fixed bison burgers for lunch to enjoy whilst I watched the hockey playoffs. Really tasty. I'm also poring over Michael Pollan's Food Rules . One of my favorite of the 65 rules put forth in this slim volume is "If it comes through your car window, it isn't food"
